What to Expect at Your First Class

Walking into your first fitness class can feel intimidating.

You might be wondering:

  • What if I can't keep up?

  • What if everyone knows what they're doing except me?

  • What if I do something wrong?

  • What if I'm completely out of shape?

If you've ever had those thoughts, you're not alone.

In fact, one of the most common messages I receive from new clients starts with some version of: "I'm really nervous." The good news? Being nervous doesn't mean you're not capable. It simply means you're doing something new and trying something new takes courage.

Start Smaller Than You Think You Need To

One of the biggest mistakes people make when starting a fitness journey is trying to do too much, too fast. They decide they're going to work out five days a week, completely change their nutrition, and become a whole new person overnight. Then life happens. Instead, I encourage people to start small. Commit to showing up once a week. That's it. Once that feels comfortable, maybe you add a second class. Small, consistent actions create lasting results far more often than huge bursts of motivation.

You Don't Need To Be Good At It

This might be my favorite thing to remind people: You are not supposed to be good at something the first time you try it. Or the second time. Or maybe even the tenth.... I've been teaching fitness for years and I still make mistakes. Nobody is expecting perfection. The goal isn't to get everything right. The goal is simply to show up.... Because every class teaches you something new. Every workout builds confidence. Every small win adds up over time.

We Meet You Where You Are

One thing you'll hear often around our studio is this:

-You do not need to get in shape before you come here.

-You do not need to lose weight first.

-You do not need to know what you're doing.

-And you definitely do not need to be "good" at fitness.

Our studio is filled with people from all different backgrounds, fitness levels, ages, and experiences. Some members have been moving their bodies consistently for years. Others are walking into a fitness class for the very first time. Both belong here.

We understand that every person arrives with a different story. Some are looking to get stronger. Some want more energy. Some are managing stress. Some are rebuilding confidence after a difficult season. Some simply want a fun reason to leave the house and connect with others. Wherever you're starting from, that's enough. Our job isn't to expect you to fit into a certain mold. Our job is to support you, encourage you, and help you take the next step forward, whatever that looks like for you. Because fitness isn't about being perfect. It's about showing up, exactly as you are, and giving yourself the opportunity to grow.

Finding Your Perfect Fit

One of the best things about our studio is that there isn't just one way to move.

Every class offers a different experience, which means you can find the style that feels right for you.

Not Sure Which Class Is Right For You?

That's completely normal. Many of our members try a few different classes before finding their favorites. The good news is there is no wrong place to start. Whether you're looking to dance, lift, kick, stretch, strengthen, sweat, or simply reconnect with yourself, we'll help you find the class that feels like home.

Arrive A Few Minutes Early

If it's your first visit, I always recommend arriving about 5–10 minutes before class. We'll show you around the studio, help you get settled, answer any questions you have, and introduce you to some of our amazing members. By the time class starts, you'll already feel like you know a few friendly faces.

What Makes Our Studio Different

We aren't focused on perfection. We're focused on progress. We believe movement should feel empowering, not intimidating. We believe fitness should be something you look forward to, not something you dread. Most importantly, we believe that everybody deserves a place where they feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged exactly as they are.

The Hardest Part Is Walking Through The Door

The truth is, the hardest workout you'll ever do might be your first one. Not because it's physically difficult. Because it requires courage. The courage to try something new. The courage to believe you're worth investing in. The courage to show up before you feel ready. If you're feeling nervous about your first class, know that you're in good company. Most of our members felt the exact same way and now they're some of the strongest, most confident people in the room.

We'd love to help you take that first step too. Reach out with any further questions you may have, or sign up for class HERE. You can grab a Drop In Class, or our New Member Unlimited pass to start, whatever feels right for you. See you soon!
